Happy Monday, everyone! :) Kicking off the week with a look a the Nature Republic Aqua Super Aqua Max Combination Watery Cream*. I didn’t use the full name of the product in the title of this post because it’s hella long, but the important thing to note is that it’s targeted for use on combination skin. Guess who has combination skin! Yup, I do!
The Aqua Cream is supposed to be used as the final step in your daily skincare routine. It’s a silicone gel that forms a protective layer on the skin once it is applied. It does seem to be very moisturizing but it’s not heavy on the skin at all.
My favourite thing about the cream has to be the packaging. I love the shade of aquamarine blue and he swirly top that’s probably meant to look like water ripples
but which remind me of curly top candies.
The texture is sort of like a whipped, airy gel and it sinks into the skin very quickly so it is nice and comfortable to wear. I usually associate cream moisturizers packaged in pots with evening skincare only, but this cream is suitable for daytime use as well. It comes with a spatula, but if your fingers are clean then there shouldn’t be too much of a problem. It’s also very fun to dip your fingers into light-as-air cream. Trust me!
In this photo you can see just how watery the product is. Watery gel moisturizers work best with oily or combination skin because of the lighweight formula. I’ve mentioned many times before that when my skin started becoming oilier, one of the things I learned is that skin will always need moisture, no matter how oily. Instead of using heavier formulas, oily/combo skins need lighter formulas that still penetrate deep into the skin. What you want to avoid is having dehydrated but still oily skin. This makes skin go into hyperdrive, producing even more oils. Creating a balance is key! Photo taken right after spreading the product–the sheen doesn’t last long because it is so easily absorbed. Perhaps the one thing that annoys me about the product is the smell. It’s not something I can put my finger on, but it does linger on the skin like a light cologne.
All things considered, the Aqua Cream is a nice product. Not sure I would go out of my way to repurchase it, but I like having it around.
