Verikos Deep Cleansing Oil Balm*

VCB1When I opened up my BNT Box and saw “Verikos” I was happy because the brand hadn’t let me down. Based on the shape of the box, I was expecting a cream moisturizer or something similar but when I actually read what it was, I couldn’t contain myself. The Verikos Deep Cleansing Oil Balm is a product similar to the famous Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm and Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm, which are both not available locally. All three are essentially deep cleansers that remove makeup and provide skin with a deep clean that isn’t drying.
VCB2I actually can’t think of any cleansing balm like this Verikos one that is available locally. I know the reason why the Clinique and Emma Hardie options are not sold here is that the solid balms are not supposed to fare well in hot weather. They supposedly just become a liquid right in the pot, making use of the product difficult if not impossible. Well, the Verikos Deep Cleansing Balm didn’t have that problem here–I was half expecting to see a liquid when I opened up the seal, but it sat there nice and solid, waiting patiently to be used. VCB3This cleansing balm is formulated mainly using Canola Oil and it is a 5-Free product, meaning there are no parabens, artificial dyes, alcohol, synthetic perfume, or mineral oil. It smells faintly of herbs and feels very mild on the skin. It is geared towards sensitive skin types and it also contains plant extracts.

I scoop out a bit more than what is shown above using a spatula and spread it all over my dry face (read: no water just yet!). It melts into a liquid-y oil instantly and begins to break down all of the makeup on your face. I love using this most especially when I have heavy base makeup going on. VCB4Once the balm is worked into dry skin, you can go ahead and add water. It works exactly like liquid cleansing oils in that the water activates the oil so that everything is lifted off of the skin and can be washed away. The solid balm formula gives me a deeper clean than my usual Shu Uemura cleansing oil and yet it does not leave my skin feeling too dried out afterward–just nice and squeaky clean.

Overall, this is a fantastic cleanser. If you guys know of any cleansing balms that are available locally, do let me know in the comments section! If you can get your hands on this one though, do it! It’s excellent and I will savour every bit of it that I have.
