Ellana Mineral Cosmetics Blush Duo in “Obsession/Fulfillment”*

EMBD1It’s time for my long-overdue review of the Ellana Cosmetics Blush Duo (450.00 Php for 9g)**! :) I have this in the shade Obsession/Fulfillment, which is a combo of asheer strawberry pink shade and a light peach with slight gold shimmer. It took me ages to really get to know this product–mostly because I thought the shades would be too light for me–but I eventually did end up loving it as much as every other Ellana product I own.  The blush duos are so popular that most of them are actually sold out at the moment, but once they are back in stock, I’m definitely going for Bunny/Ecstasy next! Until then, read on to know my thoughts on the product! :)
EMBD4Reinforced cardboard packaging with a nice mirror on the inner lid. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again– reinforced cardboard is pretty awesome for holding makeup. theBalm and some Stila products make use of similar materials, and those products are the most travel-friendly I own. I never have to worry about dropping my makeup when it’s packaged like this! The only downside is that it can get a little bit dirty, but it’s nothing a damp tissue can’t fix. EMBD2Obsession on the left and Fulfillment on the right. The “official descriptions” of these colours (as you will see in the shot of the back of the packaging below) are as a “sheer raspberry red” and a “watermelon peach & gold shimmer” respectively. I’d say, as I have above, that they’re more of a sheer strawberry pink and a light peach with gold shimmer. I really thought that both shades would b too light for my skin tone and the finger swatches didn’t help at all. They look powdery  when swiped onto a finger. How could I have known that they would be so buttery and beautiful on the cheeks! haha.

EMBD3Blended onto my arm, you get a better idea of how these can make cheeks gorgeous and glowing! I gave Fulfillment a try first and for a while, it was the only blush I would reach for as I was pairing it with a light peach lippie and shimmery (also peachy) eyes. It’s absolutely beautiful and because of the slight shimmer, your cheekbones will look perfectly sculpted.

It took me a bit longer to warm up to Obsession because light pink blushes aren’t really my thing. But one Sunday when I happened to be in a massive rush, I just grabbed the first blush I saw and some crazy voice in my head convinced me to give it a try. So glad I did because every time I caught my face in a mirror that day I was just like “Oh hey, giiiirrl!” Translation: I thought I looked pretty damn fine. Lol. But seriously, Obsession brought life to my skin and was not too cool-toned at all. Whenever I want to look more awake and/or alive, I’ll pick this up. EMBD5

And now, to summarize this already short and sweet review:

 The Good:

  • Smooth texture that easily blends onto cheeks
  • Affordable, as all Ellana products are
  • Two blushes in one package! That is what “duo” means, after all
  • Four other awesome duos to choose from

The Bad:

  • They’re currently sold out except for Flirtation/Fetish… worth the wait, though!

  1. I notice that Ellana’s stuff swatches a little chalky but they look.. glowy.. on the skin. I have the same shade and am having a bit of trouble with overpigmentation but I love this duo as I frequently swtich between peach and light pink blushes ^_^

  2. Buttery! Now that’s something to look forward to. I haven’t been paying much attention to Ellana because I always thought, “Okay, lovely color selection, but maybe they don’t feel any different.” Well, when you say buttery, now you have my attention. I’m also psyched to see that the duo contains a warmer and cooler shade.
