It’s finally time for the first of my Bioderma reviews since the brand launched in the Philippines! I’m kicking it off with the Restorative Lip Balm (910.00 Php), which is part of Bioderma’s range designed for dry skin: Atoderm. You don’t exactly have to have dry skin to use this though, as even girls with oily skin can have dry lips. This lip balm in particular will probably please a wide range of different people as it’s unscented, not greasy, and hypoallergenic. The very fact that this is a basic lip balm is what makes it so great. There are no frills — it just works. If you’ve ever used Khiels’ lip balm in the original formula, this Bioderma option is the less greasy, more quickly absorbed version of it. The 15mL tube comes with an angled applicator tip that I actually use. Usually with lip balms that come in tubes, I swipe some off onto my finger and use that to swipe the product on instead… but there’s something about this tip that makes it pleasant to press up against my lips. I just make sure to wipe the tip with a tissue from time to time to keep it clean.
The formula is clear and lightweight. I don’t use this at night because I prefer thicker, petroleum-based balms that sit heavy while I sleep. Instead, I use this in the morning while doing my makeup because it sinks it quick enough to not disturb my lipstick once it’s time to put it on.
There’s not much else to say about the product except that it really works. Everyone needs a basic lip balm and this is as basic as it’s going to get, really. Again, it’s not greasy like the Khiels #1 Lip Balm, which is the most similar other option on the market. This one is more affordable, too! And my fave things about it are that it’s unscented and lightweight but effective.
