It’s been a while since I last posted an FOTD — mostly because it’s too hot to wear much makeup and also because I still wear the same look 90% of the time — but today I actually pulled out a number new things and so I thought it was worth documenting.
It’s a still a simple look; I kept the base light but changed it up a bit with the tone of my lipstick and blush. The eye makeup isn’t even showing up here but that was crazy simple too… wearing glasses tends to make one lazy, hehe.
To read about the products I used, click through! I started with VMV Hypoallergenics Face Cover 45 (not pictured) to protect my skin from the scorching hot sun. I then used my usual K Palette Zero Kuma Concealer under my eyes and set that with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Dim Light. Spot concealing is a job that only my Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer is qualified to do. As I’ve mentioned before, I like to use my Myra VitaGlow BB Creams* as semi-highlighters. The Beige shade goes on my cheeks and the Ivory shade goes down the bridge of my nose to add dimension to my face without having to contour (looks 10x more natural). To set the base, I used the Ellana Minerals Finishing Powder in Espresso Con Panna**.
The first new thing I used to create today’s look is the Majolica Majorca Brow Customize Sword Cut Pencil*. Where has this been all my life?? It’s a cheaper dupe for the Shu Uemura Hard 9 pencil and it totally deserves a full review of its own. That’s already in the works so sit tight for it, ok?
On my eyes (which again, you can’t see… sorry about that! haha), I used the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P. to prime and then placed the Beige shade from my Bobbi Brown Warm Glow palette over that. I love placing matte powder eye shadow over a shimmery cream base. The effect is soft and pretty. Of course mascara is a must — I’ve been using the Happy Skin Eye Am The One Mascara on the daily because it’s easy to apply and remove.
Finally for my cheeks and lips, I used two dual-use products. So… I could have used either of them for both cheeks and lips, but I did not. No real explanation for why I did that. Haha! On my cheeks I wore the Stila Convertible Color in Peony and on my lips I chose to use the Happy Skin Lip & Cheek Mousse in The Morning After*. Both products are unbelievably easy to use and they have me wondering why I didn’t get into cream blushes sooner. I do prefer to use the Stila Convertible Colors as blushes though as they dry out the lips. The Happy Skin Lip & Cheek Mousses on the other hand work well on both the lips and cheeks.
That’s it for today’s look! Any notable new products in your lives? How have you been dealing with the sweltering summer heat (makeup-wise)?
