USA Makeup & Skincare 2015

It’s always difficult to control myself when shopping in the States. That goes for everything, not just makeup and skincare, but it’s especially bad with beauty stuff because they tend to be small items that add up in price quickly. So this year I attacked the U.S. beauty shopping scene with a detailed list of things I knew I wanted to get. I did save a lot of money, but I also ended up with much less than I normally take home. Wether I’ll regret that or not isn’t really clear yet… but here are the (relatively) few things I am glad to have: DSC01201Let’s start with body and skincare because — why not!

  • Dr. Bronner’s Castille Soaps in liquid and solid form. If you thought the bottle in my previous post about Dr. Bronner’s soaps was big, think again! That bottle holds 8oz while the huge bottle I got at Target holds a whopping 32oz. Awesome because Healthy Options stopped selling this amazing product (what poop heads!). The solid soaps I haven’t tried but am quite excited to have.
  • Aquaphor Healing Ointment. You can get this stuff at just about any drugstore in the U.S. and it is the ultimate saviour when your hands start to crack in dry or cold weather. I absolutely have to have this in my bag when abroad, but when I’m back home it finds its way to my bedside table so I can use it right before I sleep.
  • Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate
  • Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. Cheap and effective. I needed it to get some waterproof mascara off.
  • Origins Ginzeng. My favourite daytime moisturiser because it makes me feel fresh and awake! (Well that sounded like a scripted advert… haha)
  • Khiel’s Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment. Jumbo size! Our local Khiel’s stores don’t seem to carry the bigger size, so I picked this up at Duty Free in Hong Kong on the way home.
  • Burt’s Bee’s Cucumber & Sage Facial Cleansing Towelettes. I ran out of the ones I took with me from home, so I decided to try out a different variant while abroad. Burt’s Bee’s Philippines, please import this! So nice and refreshing.
  • Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Perfume Rollerball. I love this scent. Rollerballs are convenient for travel. Enough said!

DSC01199As for makeup, the one thing I really, really wanted was the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette, which you can see in the lower right corner of the photo above. I’m so glad I got it because the quality is UH-mazing. And I’ll just list everything else I got:

  • Mini Laura Mercier Primers in Radiance Bronze and the regular one
  • Cover FX Custom Cover Drops in G50
  • Mini Laura Mercier Shimmer Block in Golden Mosaic
  • Mini Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Bronze 03
  • bareMinerals Brightening/Illuminating Prime Time Foundation Primer
  • Laneige BB Cushion in Medium
  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Pressed) in Opal
  • Custom Duo Palette of MUFE Artist Intense Eyeshadows
  • Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow in 03 Bella Cappuccino
  • NARS Dual Intensity Blush in Craving
  • Mini Benefit They’re Real Mascara
  • Mini Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighter
  • Mini Lorac Lipgloss in Goddess
  • Mini Lorac Eyeshadow Primer
  • Mini Jane Iredale Mascara (threw this out because it seemed old already)
  • Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette
  • Pixi Lip Lift Max
  • Revlon Superlustrous Lipsticks in:
    • Mink
    • Va Va Violet
    • Rose Velvet
  • Mini Laura Mercier Eye Base in Wheat
  • Sugar Lip Treatment in Honey

Do let me know if there’s anything you guys are particularly interested in reading about. I underlined the things that I have been love love loving since I got them so that you don’t have to wait too long to know that they are awesome.

  1. Something in me wants to discredit the Kat Von D line just because she’s a TV personality… but I don’t know. People seem to really like her stuff!

I felt that way too!! But the palette was so pretty… And yeah lots of good reviews online, so I went for it. :)

  2. Definitely want to read about the Kat Von D palette soon. Too bad Healthy Options stopped with the Dr. Bronner’s. It was on my mental “try list”.

The Laura Mercier ones were my 500 point gift thing from Sephora and the Lorac minis came with the Unzipped palette. :) Sorry, should have specified that!

  3. I thought you only bought the first picture until I scrolled down and my eyes suddenly grew bigger! Love the loot you got! The Custom drops is interesting and that Kat Von D palette too! :)

Haha! No I don’t have that much self control naman no. :)) Ok noted! The Custom cover drops are super cool. I’ve been mixing them with everything.

  4. Ooooh that Nars blush duo and the Becca Shimmering Perfector in Opal are on my “want” list! Would love to see those in action :)
