I tend to like brands that create a community, and really, all brands should strive to do just that. If people are attracted to your products, that’s already one thing they have in common. Why not turn those consumers into a supportive group of friends? Well, that’s exactly what SkinWhite did with their latest batch of girls who formed this year’s Captivate Council.

The SkinWhite Captivate Council

The Captivate Council is essentially a group of girls who love SkinWhite products and work together towards self-improvement by having fun and supporting one another. The theme for this year’s four-month journey was #BetterMe and at the end of their four month journey together, the girls of the Captivate Council were definitely able to say that they had become better versions of themselves. Here are some photos from the culminating event: SkinWhite1A group of supportive girlfriends can do wonders for a girl’s self-confidence! My Road to A #BetterMe

Awesome as it is, you don’t need to be part of something like the Captive Council to grow in confidence. That starts with your own perception of yourself and how you nurture yourself mentally, emotionally, and physically. I make it a point  to set aside time for the things that make me feel alive. I read because it has always been my favourite pastime and it exercises my mind. I write to process my thoughts and emotions. I exercise to strengthen the only earthly vessel my soul will ever know. And I allow myself to indulge in little beauty routines because I know when I look good, I feel put-together and ready for the world. There’s nothing wrong with nurturing yourself first so that you can give more to others later. It’s a lifestyle and you all know that that already includes caring for my skin. Here’s one thing that I started doing just recently, though:  DSC02969I’ve taken to using the SkinWhite Advanced Whitening Lotion on my hands and lower arms whenever I drive. I had been searching for a good hand lotion with SPF for the longest time and it occurred to me that I could simply use this instead. Our hands are one of the first parts of our bodies to show ageing, mostly because we neglect to protect them from the sun as they dry out. Hands are also more heavily exposed to the sun when they are on the steering wheel of a car. I don’t want to see sun spots and wrinkles on my hands anytime soon, so I keep the bottle of lotion in my glove compartment.

Using the SkinWhite Advanced Whitening Lotion works out especially well for use in the car because it’s not heavy or sticky. Plus, when I reach my destination, my hands look lighter already because of the instant whitening effect (see above). It’s the little things that put me on the road to becoming a #BetterMe.

Developing good habits (like using sunscreen on your hands) is always a good place to start. What do you do to make yourself better? :)

One response to A #BetterMe Story, Feat. SkinWhite’s Advanced Whitening Range

  1. This is an interesting post. I’ve heard of skin whitening treatments in the past, but I guess I never really thought of it as a means to “self improve.” I guess it’s like white folks who feel they aren’t attractive unless they have a tan? I do feel that we should all feel good in the skin that we have. But I think it’s a total shame that we can’t all feel beautiful with the skin we were born with. I’d love to know more about your thoughts on skinwhite from this perspective :) I hope you can tell I’m not trying to be a pain or argumentative I’m just super curious :)
