The word dance is used for the movement of the human body either as a form of art or as a form of art socializing, spiritual or some other ritual, or for fun.
Dance, and dancing, just like music, is the language of the whole world.
We all can understand it, enjoy it, and communicate using it, even if we come from different parts of the world.
Many things cannot always be done with words, and in these moments, we need something else, some other form of expression.
It is precisely this lack (you do not use words, you use movement) that is compensated for with the body, that is, with dancing, and all of us could enjoy such a movement and expression of the body.
It is precisely these specific movements of the body, its specific positions, facial expressions, gestures, facial expressions, mouth, and eyes… represent a special speech both about the character of the man and about his feelings.
And when we take a look at the past, we can see that this was innate to the ancient man, when he had done this probably for spiritual or later on religious reasons.
Dance movements, and in a general sense, music and dancing, can express thoughts, experiences, and customs and can be communicated in a perfect way that the most complete understanding.
Dancing, and this is 100 percent certain offers everyone the opportunity to enjoy a certain rhythm, and aesthetically shaped and stylized movements.
Dance is a link between people, develops hearing, a sense of rhythm and
music raises the level of general culture.
Dancing is an activity that all the senses enjoy, and even people who do not like to dance, most certainly enjoy looking at others as they dance, as it can be a true art form, and a sight to see.
Now, here we want to answer the question – is dancing allowed, based on the strict rules of the Islamic faith; at times dancing can be seducing, and the music can be sultry, as well as lyrics of songs that all of us like to dance.
Is Dancing Haram or Halal In Islam?
Music in some general sense is not considered to be haram – even in the Quran it is seen that it is ok to listen to music.
Of course, there are certain regulations that must be followed.
When it comes to dancing, there are different schools that say one or the other is correct, but we think that the answer is that dancing is halal, if some general regulations are followed.
For example, if a woman is dancing for her husband, then for sure, dancing is seen as halal, it is allowed, even recommended, with a note that the details of how to consolidate a marriage remain a household secret that should not be shared with others.
Some things must remain hidden between the two partners.
And some ladies want to know if is it allowed for them to dance in front of other women, as they say in front of their sisters.
It is said that if and when such a dance meeting is organized, it must be checked and confirmed that the details of that meeting will not be shared with the general public.
During the dance, it is truly important for the woman to be covered; this is a core rule for a woman.
She needs to cover her body.
That covering makes a body cover and a head covering.
It should not be any gossip regarding this event, as sharing false and unconfirmed news is being spread, and Satan is the one who stirs them up through his helpers, to destroy the unity of the Muslim people.
So, for a woman, it is really important that she is dressed according to Islamic regulations – and the law does not allow by any means for her to wear tight, transparent, or short clothes and in that way to meet in society in front of other women.
There are also these reasons why this is not halal; and why such a thing is prohibited.
There cannot be any shred of doubt for a person who is dancing that its morals will be shaken for it; there must not be any reason why during the dance a woman gives people a reason to gossip about her.
That gathering is not for the sake of Allah, and the very act of revealing it falls under the imitation of unbelievers, which is a sufficient reason for being seen as haram.
Also, and this is important to mention – there are some rules also regarding the music, it must not be raunchy, as well as lyrics.
it is best for a woman to dance in front of other women, or her husband.
Women should never dance in front of men that they do not know.
When it comes to men, they can dance, for example, while he is at a wedding; and it is also mandatory for men to cover themselves so that there is not a single aspect of their movement or their bodies that can be related to sexual connotation.
Is belly dancing haram?
One of the most common associations regarding dancing, and the Islamic religion is most definitely so-called belly dancing, or as it is called in some countries an oriental dance.
Speaking of this dance, from the historical aspect, this was and still is in certain parts of the world, the dance that mostly occurs in a social context (for example it is a known dance at celebrations, and weddings) and is an integral part of social ties within the societies of the peoples of Middle Eastern countries.
From this point of view, belly dancing is not, and should not be, in these countries seen in some glamorous context (theatres, nightclubs), which leads to a general misunderstanding of the true nature of this dance form.
It is understandable that belly dancing took this form because it is so very attractive and for people who are not middle eastern it is very attractive to look at.
But, it is known that the appearance is conflicting and controversial theories about its origin.
And the origin of belly dancing is not known, some say it comes from Egypt others say it comes from some other countries, but the fact is that this type of dancing has a major and long tradition.
Despite the many restrictions of the Islamic religion and marking this dance as shameful and inappropriate, since it can truly be very sensual if not some would say sexual, this is a great sin in the eyes of the Islamic faith.
But, we must remind that there are numerous descriptions of dancers in the books of art and architecture of Islam (650 – 1250 AD), then pictures of dancers on the walls of palaces and Persian miniatures from the 12th and 13th centuries that describe the then dancers.
Some would say that these restrictions are present due to misunderstandings very often aroused prejudice and contempt, causing moral damage to professional dancers due to their association with prostitution and women of low morals.
But we must say that belly dancing has survived throughout history precisely because it represents, as we have stated, an integral part of the culture, customs, and social relations of people.
So, those who speak of it must look at it from such an angle.
But, for Muslim believers as women to dance belly dancing, is not allowed, first because there are a lot of sexual movements, and women wear a small number of clothes, and this is not seen as allowed in Islam.
it is seen as a sexually suggestive dance and therefore it is not allowed.
But, if it could be a way that does not lead to some haram actions, then it would be halal.
Is dancing allowed in Islam?
So, when we start with the music itself, it all depends on how you look at it, and in a general sense, it could be seen as prohibited as indicated by the Quran.
There are many pieces that have been written about it, and it has already been written about it, but other Islamic scholars claim that there is nothing haram in music, as long it does not lead to some haram activities.
If it does not have inappropriate lyrics, etc.
Music is not allowed to be used during exercise or while dancing for the husband because it is generally forbidden and there is no obedience to the creature in disobedience to the Creator.
All believers of the Muslim faith must be aware that the right goal does not justify the forbidden means, and marital harmony is not built on haram things.
All sins must be avoided by all means, and if the music and dancing imply one then it is haram, as when it leads to such activities.
And, it does matter who dances – if a woman is dancing in front of her husband; then it is perfectly allowed and even more desirable because it strengthens the marriage union.
If a woman dances in front of her husband, then it is believed that this act itself can make a connection between the spouses much more deeper and beautiful.
It is also permitted to practice dancing as long as it does not happen along with the prohibition of things such as revealing parts of the body that must be covered, the presence of people who are not of the mahram or were with them, and the like…
Of course, dancing in front of men who are not her husband is seen as a major haram.

Conclusion
We can assume that the majority of people love to dance, just to let go of the music and be free and relaxed.
In some sense, people of the Muslim faith who consider themselves to be moderate love music and do not consider dancing to be haram.
Primarily the reason why dancing can be seen as haram lies in the fact that dancing can obtain sexual connotation, and can have some racy movements, and this is especially forbidden when it comes to dancing between people who are not married.
Some indecent lyrics in songs can be also seen as forbidden among Islamic believers.
But, in the case of some extreme groups in the Islamic faith, like Wahhabis dancing in a general sense is not seen as allowed, in any case.
Music is halal, in the most general sense, and therefore if it is an appropriate occasion, and if there is something suitable, then dancing is permitted.
And if women and men are dancing together, and they are not husband and wife, then this dancing is strictly haram.
This is the case, as this would apply s*xual connotations, and also touching of bodies, so the Islamic faith sees it as strictly forbidden.
So, it is implied that dancing and music if they are decent are not the problems by themself, but things that may come out of that dance, things are strictly haram.
