Let’s start with the fact that Allah forbade changing one’s personal description and that everyone should look exactly as he created them.
Therefore, plastic surgery for the purpose of beautification is prohibited for Muslims.
But then there are cases where plastic surgery is allowed, and that is in cases where some defect occurred due to some accident, such as a fire in which the face or any other part of the body was injured, ugly scars, etc…
So it is only allowed in cases when a person wants to restore its appearance to its previous state.
Is Liposuction Haram or Halal In Islam?
As far as liposuction is concerned, it can be performed exclusively and only in cases where the person’s condition and health are threatened to such an extent that there is no other way to get rid of excess fat within a certain period of time, and only in that case is Halal and not in any other.
The Muslim faith requires its followers to be healthy and to eat healthily, and therefore these cases among Muslims are very rare due to their way of eating.
If a Muslim suffers from excessive weight, in most cases it is caused by a disturbance in metabolic processes in the body and a disturbance in hormones.
If it comes to the point where liposuction has to be performed, it must be performed by doctors who are experts and accredited for this type of problem and disorder.
Muslims eat healthily because their religion requires them to do so, and cases like this are rare, but they do happen.
If, on the other hand, a pregnant woman’s health is at risk because of her weight loss, she can also undergo liposuction and it is not Haram if her child’s health is at risk for that reason.
But before approaching and making a decision about liposuction itself, all other methods that can achieve results must be exhausted.
This means that liposuction is Halal only in the event that there is no other way and it has been decided that way.
A healthy lifestyle, diet, and physical activity are necessary in order to prevent the accumulation of fat deposits in the body.
Excessive body weight is not only an aesthetic problem but also a health problem that has a very bad effect on the quality of an individual and can lead to psychological disorders, which then further complicates the entire situation.
If we compare, for example, people living in the West with members of the Muslim religion, we will see that “Westerners” are prone to obesity.
Considering that they can feed themselves with everything and have no restrictions in this matter, they very often take in unhealthy food.
Burgers, pizza, pasta, various high-calorie sauces, pork that we know is unhealthy, food that is fried in deep oil, not to mention the various sweets and treats that are affordable for them…
All this is something that one person has to force. to pull the “brake” and ask himself where such a way of eating will take him.
In the Islamic community, it is customary to take care of one’s health and to be careful with what one eats.
And that law has led to the point that Muslims are mostly healthy people and people who do not have problems with excess body weight and diseases that are a side effect of it.
In order to prevent it from getting to that point, you should eat healthily and avoid fatty and high-calorie foods, fast regularly, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid sweets and snacks.
Introduce whitefish into your diet at least 3 times a week, avoid late meals, and engage in physical activity.
All of this will not only affect the fact that you will lose fat deposits and speed up your metabolism, but it will also already have benefits for both your physical and mental health.
This is something that should be followed for a minimum of 6 months in order to see the benefits and to acquire healthy lifestyle habits, besides which you will not be able to bring yourself to the point where you have excess fat deposits in your body.
All this should be tried first so that liposuction would eventually be Halal if it comes to that.
Therefore, it is Haram if you have not exhausted all other possibilities, but if you have tried everything and it has not shown any effect or progress, then it is Halal.
Women are more prone than men to this type of fat removal, especially since their musculature tends to carry a certain excess weight.
It is not the same when a woman weighs, for example, 150 kilos and when a man weighs 150 kilos.
Men, above all, have stronger musculature and muscles that will carry that weight, while it is not the same case with women, and then their joints and tendons suffer and it is harder for them to move and engage in physical activity, so they undergo liposuction.
For a successful liposuction, the person needs to be healthy, because they will be put under total anesthesia and the cardiovascular system must function well so there are no health problems that could threaten our health after the liposuction itself.
This means that it is necessary, as for almost any other operation, to do all the tests, in order to make sure that this intervention can be carried out without risk.
Every Muslim knows that he is obliged to take care of his body since Allah has given it to him and that it is written that the health of every individual is very important and must be taken care of.
For this reason, dietary regulations have been established that must be respected and only those foods that are Halal and that will bring good to our body, and not what is Haram and that can endanger health, are eaten.
More about liposuction
It is firmly believed that in this world there is no one who has a perfect body who would not alter anything about it.
Regardless of how much we take maintenance of good nutrition and water input, we work out to be in shape and fix our figure, we use acupuncture and different massages, but it seems that it is not enough.
There can be that one problematic region of the body where the collected fat residues are not can be released naturally!
Then, the only choice is cosmetic operation, which delivers different remedies for such issues.
One of them being liposuction.
Excessive body weight can also occur as a consequence of a mental disorder such as depression because depressed people usually look for comfort in food, especially late at night, which is harmful to health.
Then there are disorders of the body, such as elevated cholesterol and triglycerides due to fat in the blood, clogged arteries, and therefore health becomes endangered, and if all alternative methods are exhausted and do not show results, a Muslim man or a Muslim woman can only then undergo the liposuction procedure.
This is a very invasive method of removing fat deposits from the human body and is performed under total anesthesia, which poses an additional danger to the human body.
After liposuction is done on the parts of the body where it was performed, scars remain from the procedure, such as laparoscopy surgery.
But with adequate and proper scar care, they will be minimally noticeable, but it is also important to start applying scar cream on time.
The tissue that was treated after the intervention is blue as if someone hit you with a stick and is painful.
But if it is something that is necessary to preserve your health and life, then in that case it is not Haram.
But a Muslim should stick to his customs and not overdo them, and be moderate in food and drink, as his religion requires of him.
If a person is moderate in food and drink and if he eats healthily, there is a very low probability that there will be a need for this intervention because the metabolism will do its job and there will be no accumulation of fat deposits in the body unless it hides some health disorder that can lead to it.
Conclusion
Therefore, we have concluded that every type of plastic surgery is Haram, except in cases where someone wants to restore a part of his body in this way to return it to its original condition, or as far as liposuction is concerned, a member of the Muslim faith can undergo it only in the event that all other possibilities exhausted or that it needs to be done urgently because it threatens his health in some way and there is no time for other alternative ways of removing excess body fat.
If there is some health obstacle to performing liposuction itself, the person must turn to alternative methods and do his best to persevere in them or to heal the obstacle that prevents him from performing liposuction and only then approaches it, i.e. to submit to it.
Every operation carries with it a certain risk for a person.
Every one of them, no matter how banal it is, can be something that, unfortunately, can be our last.
That’s why a person should protect and nurture his health while he has it and try to prevent all diseases that can be prevented by a healthy and moderate diet, physical activity, mental stability, and generally a healthy outlook on life.
If a person adheres to these principles, and if a disease occurs, he will know that he did his best to be healthy and happy, and he can attribute this to fate and a higher power.
Otherwise, a person can only repent, because he will be aware that he brought himself to the point where he endangered his life with an unhealthy way of life.
Every Muslim is aware of this and adheres to these principles because it is sacred to him and written in the holy book, the Koran.
So it is up to a member of the Muslim nation to decide whether it is Haram or Halal for him to undergo liposuction.
If he is aware that he did his best in front of Allah and in front of people, that he tries to solve the problem in which he found himself in all other ways, then it is Halal, but if he is aware that he did not try hard enough because of his laziness, in that case, it is Haram.
The exception is the substitution when, as we said, health is at risk due to excess fat, especially in pregnant women, and then liposuction itself is Halal and is allowed to be done by a doctor who is a certified expert in this field.
