FOTD – Sept. 17, 2013

I don’t post looks very often because I feel like I’m awful at capturing the colours well. I also sometimes think that I look the same in all of the pictures… but I guess you can see the difference when they’re placed side by side! Here’s what I had on today yesterday. I reviewed a lot of these products recently, actually. The Clinique CC cream review should be up in a few days so watch out for that! :)

Base: Clinique CC Cream mixed with Vichy Normaderm Teint, MUD Blue Corrector #3, K Palette Zero Kuma Concealer, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, and Clinique Stay-Matte Pressed powder (translucent) with UD De-Slick sprayed over top to set

Cheeks: MAC Small Vanity blush

Eyes: L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush on the lids, MAC Espresso on the outer-V and on the lower outer lash line, Inglot shimmery pink on the inner corner, Fairyfrops Platinum mascara (waterproof variant), and Shu Uemura Hard 9 Eyebrow pencil in seal brown

Lips: Too Faced La Creme lipstick in Spice Spice Baby

Beauty Chit Chat | Sept 9, 2013

Apologies for the long absence! Things at school have been a bit hectic of late as we’re making up for all of that time we lost when there was a storm last month. Make up classes galore! And not the kind of makeup I love, unfortunately (wow that was corny). So anyway, I have quite the backlog of posts in my drafts folder but I can’t stand to publish things that aren’t quite ready yet, so I thought I would just talk at random a bit. Still about makeup/beauty of course!

I’m only 9 days into my 4-month makeup no-buy and it’s kind of getting to me. I now avoid makeup stores because I get all sad when I look at the products. Announcements of makeup launches for fall are also killing me. Even watching my favourite Youtubers’ videos is starting to become a little difficult because all the makeup just looks so puhretty on them… and now I can’t help but wonder: did I really buy makeup so often that a ban can give me these withdrawal-like symptoms? It’s hilarious in a sad, sad way. Lol.

Before the ban started, I did make it a point to purchase some essentials that I anticipated I would run out of within the next four months. MBPPromise that wasn’t just an excuse to go and buy stuff! I just honestly would not be able to function properly if I ran out of any of these things. It’s not an exclusive bunch, but again, these are things I’m running out of already so I thought stocking up would be wise.

MAC Holiday Collection 2012: Glamourdaze, Small Vanity, and Lavish Rose

I know, I know, another holiday collection? Yup, I really seem to be buying into them lately! What’s funny is that I was most interested in getting something from the Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld Mon Shu collection but I ended up with nothing from it at all. Everything looked great in the promo photos, but once I saw the products in front of me, I was just not as excited as I thought I would be. Maybe next year, Shu! Now the exact opposite happened to me with MAC’s Glamourdaze collection. I saw the promotions and thought they were pretty boring plus the gift sets didn’t look to be very good value for money. But when I saw the collection at the MAC counter, I fell in love with one of the lipsticks right away! I then saw a really great review of one of the blushes which looked like a really good match for the lipstick I wanted and I was pretty much sold on two items at that point…

FOTD – Sept. 3, 2012

Products Used: VMV Hypoallergenics Skintangible SPF30, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium Dark, Laura Mercier Eyeshadow in “American Coffee” for my brows, Shu Uemura eyeshadow on lids, Avon Supershock Mascara, Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Blush in “Rose,” MAC Chatterbox lipstick, and NYX Pink Gold Megashine Lipgloss

I rarely ever smile without showing my teeth, which is why I couldn’t just put up the photo on the left on its own–sometimes I look at it and I like it, and other times I just don’t. Hehe! Anyway, this is a look I did yesterday, using MAC Chatterbox for the very first time. I kept everything else on my face really simple and clean since I was just off to school for the day, but I can imagine Chatterbox pairing nicely with a soft gray smokey eye for an evening look. I have a NYX lipgloss layered over Chatterbox here, again to soften it up a little bit, as the finish is slightly matte when its on its own. I love how Chatterbox made me feel super girly and fresh! :) Definitely a lipstick I see myself wearing often! ♥

“Color Block” FOTD / My Parrot Eyes!

Thought I’d share a look I did in May for submission to a contest. The challenge was to create a color blocked look using at least one L’Oreal True Match product on any part of your face—which explains why I’m holding up a bottle of foundation. That was my L’Oreal product. :)

Products used: (1) L’Oreal True Match Foundation in W5 “Sand Beige,” (2) MUD Blue Corrector #3, (3) NYX 5-Color Eyeshadow Palette in “I Dream Of St. Lucia,” (4) Maybelline NY Eyestudio 2-in-1 Impact Shadow Liner, (5) NYX Lipliner Pencl in “Pinky,” (6) Some Mascara (can’t remember which), and (6) No.7 Blush in “Honey.”

I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out since I didn’t really practice anything beforehand. I initially wanted to do a look using only two main colors, but the colors were so tropical-looking that I just had to keep going! So I ended up using orange, pink, yellow, blue, and green—a combination that reminds me of a parrot. :D

Looking back, I think I should have done some contouring and pulled my hair back for the photos… BUT I still really like this look anyway. I don’t know where I would be going with such a lot of colour on my face, but it was definitely fun to do! :) Blending was not too difficult because my NYX eyeshadows weren’t overly pigmented, which was both good and bad in this case I guess. Really wish I could have gotten that yellow on the inner corner of my eyes to be a lot brighter! Oh well. Fun fun! :)

p.s. I did end up being one of the winners of that contest, but I did not avail of the prize since they were tickets to an event that I couldn’t have made it to anyway. Boo.
