Bad Skin Days

We all have them. And I have them much too often thanks to stress from school — but hey, life goes on and the world isn’t going to stop because of your bad skin day, no matter how much you wish it would.

There are a number of different ways you can deal with bad skin days:

  1. Put some extra effort into making your hair look good (pretty hair can work wonders);
  2. Bring out the heavy-duty concealers and foundations (least recommended option);
  3. Treat the skin as best you can by using light makeup and treatment-infused products; or
  4. Don’t leave the house. Period.

I don’t stick to any one method and I have tried each at least once in my life– #2 being the most frequently resorted to, even though it is terrible for already-stressed-out skin. I like option #1 a lot because fab hair is always a mood-booster. Not leaving the house is just not an option when you have to (duh), and option #3 is the most sensible. Here’s my attempt at being kind to my skin on a bad day:

Right Up My Alley: Happy Skin’s Honeymoon Glow

HSna1Happy Skin recently released some new additions to their permanent line up and I may have been a little too excited to get my hands on some of it. Seriously, they know how to make a girl want something. I picked these up the day after they hit the Rockwell Beauty Bar branch, I think. “These” are the new Zit Zapper Second Skin Cream Foundation (1,299.00 Php) and one of three new permanent Shut Up & Kiss Me Lippies: Honeymoon Glow (499.00 Php).

I’ll give myself a while longer to get to know the ZZ Cream because it is a base product, but for now I can show you the beauty that is Honeymoon Glow:

Turn Up The Heat: Happy Skin Limited Edition Shut Up & Kiss Me Lippies

HSL1If you haven’t heard of Happy Skin, welcome back from under your rock. I feel like their marketing is so aggressive that they’ve probably reached every Filipina even just remotely interested in makeup. You can read about their story here, but in a nutshell it’s a local makeup brand that launched sometime last year and that offers “an entire range of skin-caring makeup.” I hadn’t actually tried any of their products before this purchase, but my Instagram feed was so saturated with photos of their summer collection launch last week that I just had to have a taste of it.

HSL2To see good overviews of the summer collection and the new additions to the permanent line, check out Project Vanity and Bless My Bag. Happy Skin came out with limited edition lippies and blushes for the summer, but have also added some exciting new things to their permanent range, including a micellar water makeup remover (!!!). Based on Liz’s and Julia’s posts I decided to purchase the full set of Shut Up & Kiss Me Turn Up The Heat Lippies (1,249.00 for the set and 549.00 individually). Funny how none of the colours from the permanent range of lipsticks ever enticed me despite the rave reviews on the formula, while all three of these summer shades looked absolutely irresistible to me. Have a look:
