The INGLOT Palette Edit

I wrote about my first INGLOT palette in October of last year when INGLOT was just about to open its first store in Glorietta 5. I had plans to visit as early as their opening weekend, but the holidays came around, life got in the way, and I was just too busy to visit until last week. Crazy how that happens… before your know it, four full months just pass you by!

Anyhoo, I was very excited to finally visit INGLOT because between writing about my palette in October and now, I decided that I wanted to “edit” it a little bit to make the perfect nude palette. If you haven’t yet seen how my palette was originally set up, check out the old post and then come back to this. Done? Great! So, where was I? Oh right, the perfect nude palette.
IFS2Does such a mythical, mysterious creature even exist? Well, when you can make your own palette, it most certainly can. You just need to understand your skin and know your own preferences well enough. I also believe that a mix of matte shades and shimmery shades is essential to create a good balance. The palette (my palette) that you see above has three matte shades, one pearl finish, and one on the shimmery side. That’s cool with me because I personally like going all-matte on the lids with a shimmery highlight just on the inner corners of my eyes. Others (loads of people, I would think!) might prefer more shimmer.

My INGLOT palette previously had two more shimmery shades (a shimmery taupe/brown and a neutral purple). I removed those because they weren’t getting as much  love as the other three shades. To replace them I chose Matte #330 and AMC Shine #37. Let’s go over all of the shades and I’ll also explain how I use each one in creating my favourite everyday wearable looks.

The Beauty Bee Awards: Best of 2013!

BBAIt’s time to go through my Beauty favourites for 2013! :) I had a difficult time choosing between products, so I thought it would be fun to present the “winners” alongside the other products that nearly made it. I love everything shown here, but the winners have been consistent faves throughout the year (or at least since I acquired them).

I didn’t limit myself to any number of categories, but I ended up with a nice round number: 10. The winners/faves are named in the photo and my little bee mascot can be seen hovering close to them. Let’s have a look! :)

Christmas “Haul” 2013! :)

Hi guys! I hope everyone had a great Christmas this year, whether you celebrate it or not. :) For me, the best part is getting to see my family all in one place. I’m pretty close to my cousins and it’s really fun to spend time with them and exchange gifts once the clock strikes 12 on Christmas day. :) This year I got most of my friends and family little leather keychains from Katre with their initials monogrammed on. I ordered all of them way back in October to minimize Christmas shopping stress. I still had to scramble for a couple of gifts, but it worked for the most part. :)

As for the gifts I receive, I usually get a lot of practical things because if I’m lucky enough to be asked, I tell my titas (aunts) what I need. For example, last year, I asked for a safe box and a hairdryer and received both of them exactly as I had specified. Other than that, all my other little presents tend to be useful things like electronics, books, organizational tools, or clothes… I guess what I’m getting at is that I don’t usually get makeup as a present. This year was different, though. I got a nice little bunch of beauty-related presents, so I thought it would be nice to do a little “haul” to share them with you guys. :)
CH3The first (and the sweetest) thing is this travel size Sigma E75 blending brush.

My INGLOT Freedom System 5-Eyeshadow Palette

So this is turning out to be a very timely post! Liz of Project Vanity just announced that INGLOT Cosmetics will be opening in Glorietta 5 very soon (YAY). That makes me feel a gazillion times better about sharing my Freedom System palette with you guys. I usually feel guilty when I talk about something that isn’t available locally because I presume that when people read reviews, they’re doing research for a possible future purchase. It’s frustrating to read a review of an awesome product that you just can’t get your hands on. I know the feeling all too well. Now, I can share my thoughts on INGLOT’s Freedom System and these particular eyeshadows with you guys with the hope that it will guide you in making decisions about future purchases. I love that!

IFP1I mentioned my INGLOT palette on the blog once before and I also posted a photo of it on my instagram when I first got it, but here she is now facing review. I suppose her being a part of my monthly faves for August kind of gives it away–based on personal preferences and given this particular palette that I put together, I do love this palette of mine. A review, however, is by nature a more critical examination (or even an appraisal of value) of a product, and so here I will attempt to discuss the different facets of the product that might apply to everyone’s experience of the brand and not just my personal preference.

Ready yourself. This is going to be a long one!

August Favourites 2013

AugustFaves2August this year was all sorts of awesome. It’s both Greg’s birth month and our “anniversary” month so we always have a lot of reason to celebrate, but this year it was especially great for multitude of reasons. :) Makeup-wise it was a very simple. I went for very clean and soft looks with emphasis on the skin and lips. And when I say emphasis on the lips I don’t mean bold colours, I mean lipgloss for that plump and full effect. I’ve only got three things to show you because… well, I only have three favourites. Simple as that I suppose! :)

1. Guerlain Meteorites Illuminating Powder (Teint Beige 02) My Meteorites seem to hibernate during the summer and come out towards what people in the West experience as “fall.” We don’t get that over here, but it is getting a little bit cooler now (thank goodness) and I love the extra glow that Meteorites provide. I use this brushed very lightly all over my face and I swear it makes me look like I’ve been airbrushed. It’s soft and natural and just using the product is a luxurious experience in itself. The tin is exquisite, the multicoloured pastel pearls smell of jasmine, and they sort of jiggle around softly when I swirl a brush into them… the powder kicks up a bit and you can see the shimmery bits (which never translate badly onto the skin)… ahh, what a lush product. Eyeing a pressed compact version for my next splurge. Either that or another eyeshadow palette! I love me some Guerlain.

2. Shu Uemura Mini Gloss Unlimited Lip Duo set
