A Gem of A Palete: Lorac Unzipped (Swatches)

DSC01858The Lorac Unzipped palette ($42) has been on my radar for a few years now. YouTubers talk about it a lot, but not half as often as they rave about the Lorac Pro palette. The Pro comes with eight matte and eight shimmery shades, while Unzipped comes with just three mattes seven shimmers.

Last year I excitedly added the original Pro (there is now a second version) to my collection and learned the hard way that more eyeshadows and a greater number of matte shades does not a  better palette make. I wrote about it in this post and since then I have been able to use the Pro palette, but not very often.

Despite the so-so experience I had with the Pro palette, I couldn’t get the Unzipped palette out of my mind. The shades looked so buttery, so vibrant… and much more interesting than those of the popular Urban Decay NAKED 3 palette, which also features rosy pinks heavily.

DSC01863As you may have surmised by now, I did finally go and get my own Lorac Unzipped palette. It’s beautiful, as you can see, and OMG guys — wait until you see the swatches (if you haven’t seen them on other blogs yet, that is). You’ll be drooling over this palette fo shizzle.

The LORAC PRO Palette — Thoughts & Swatches

P1160069One of the things I asked my mom to pick up for me on her recent trip to the U.S. was the LORAC PRO Palette (42.00 USD). This has been around for a long while now, but I wanted it because… uhm, because I like makeup. Lol. Even though it’s been around for so long, I had never actually seen the palette in real life. When I first held it, I was surprised at how light and thin the palette itself was. That said, it is very pretty (although I don’t know how it would handle any falls). It would be awesome to travel with though, that’s for sure. P1160073The LORAC Pro palette contains 16 eyeshadows and a decently-sized long mirror on the backside of the cover. At $42, it’s a pretty sweet deal for anyone who is looking get a good variety of eyeshadows in one place, at one time. The whole top row is dedicated to matte finishes, while the bottom row features the shimmery shades.

My Socal Shoppe Goodie: LORAC Fan Favorite Duo

LP1Early in January, Elaine of My Socal Shoppe sent me my very first taste of LORAC Cosmetics. Best-known for its Pro Palette, LORAC is one of the (many) amazing cosmetics brands that isn’t locally available. Elaine works with her partner Aiza (based in the US) to bring in goodies that everyone totally wants but just can’t get without hopping on a plane all the way to the US. They carry the most interesting stuff (which you can see on Facebook and on their Instagram page) but of course I’m most interested in the makeup! Hehe :)

Elaine was sweet enough to ask about what brands I’d be interested in seeing and I gave my input gladly! What she sent was a total surprise though and it was a great one. I have always wanted to test stuff from LORAC and this set that contains an eyeshadow (Pewter, apparently the most popular shade from the Pro Palette) and an eyeliner is the perfect way to start. So thank you times a million, Elaine!:) I’m enjoying these thoroughly. I may just want that oh-so-popular palette after this experience. Have a look-see!
